ICT Solutions for Precision Farming
Serving the agricultural community in Bergrivier Municipality region since 2005

This is about Automation

We can monitor the various, critical parameters within a farm environment, i.e. temperature, moisture, movement, etc. We do this through Internet of Things (IoT) consisting of small gadgets that can operate in the field, without any dependency on Esdom, for up to five years. These gadgets are part of the 4th Industrial Revolution (4ID), which has enabled the Netherlands to become the second largest agricultural producer in the world, after the United States of America.

All of these gadgets, across the farm up to five kilometers, can communicate via our LoRaWAN (long range) farm network, every few minutes, to create the kind of business intelligence that a farmer needs. This data is then stored in the Internet Cloud and over time it becomes a very valuable resource for the farmer. It is a database of empirical measurements that enable decisions to be made. No more guesswork to see what is going on out there, the system gathers all the necessary data.

Of course, it is useless to have all this data floating around, doing nothing from a control perspective. So, through the LoRaWAN, it is possible to use this data to proactively control stuff across the farm. We can send on/off/precise signals to almost anything, be it a pump, a gate, a sprinkler system, etc. It is as if someone is running around and operating farm machinery, as and when it is necessary. The difference is, the system operates 24 hours each day, executing what is needed to keep things under control.
